Spring Break Adventures: Marrakech, Morocco

Hey everyone,

To continue with the Spring Break theme I thought I'd let you guys know a little about my last stop on my 9 day Spring Break: Marrakech, Morocco. Coming into Study Abroad I never thought that I'd be going to Africa but it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. My friends and I stayed at a Riad which means Guest House in Arabic. The accommodations were great and we were served a full Moroccan breakfast each morning. Marrakech has some of the best tasting Orange Juice I've ever tasted!

The Open Market in Djeema El Fna Square was like Canal Street x 1000. It was filled with persistent sales people, exotic handi-crafts, and snake charmers. After some haggling genius, I left with a Moroccan shirt, a carved candle, and a knock-off Long Champs bag: success! Morocco also inspired us to let out our wild sides. We decided to go on a desert ATV excursion our second day in Marrakech. The interesting thing is that the agencies take on a lot of liability in Morocco and did not require that we have any training or for us to wear sneakers for that matter. Regardless, the scenes on the trip were beautiful. Minor aside: I lost control of my ATV and fell off, but all is well in the end.

Spring Break part 2: Italy!

Hello Ladies!

I hope you are all having a wonderful semester! My experience in Prague has been phenomenal, I hope you all have the chance to study abroad!

So Spring Break ... I started in Barcelona, spent a couple of days in Madrid, then was off to Italy!

Kathleen and I spent one night in Florence, joining Allie Sorrentino and Ali Whelan for a delicious dinner, pausing freuqently throughout the night for "uswib pictures" : )
The next morning, we woke up early and stopped in Pisa for a couple of hours on our way to Rome. (How could we leave Italy without seeing the leaning tower?!)
Finally, in Rome we did our best to see EVERYTHING in the two days we had there... It was quite the undertaking but we were pretty successful! Below we are standing on the Spanish Steps!

Spring Break

Hi ladies!

I hope that everyone had a tremendous spring break! Mine most certainly was. I spent two days in Barcelona, six in Malaga, and 24 hours in Madrid. Spending so much time in Spain, it is hard to switch back to speaking in Italian. I can't believe how hard it is to remember "Ciao" instead of "Hola". Here is a picture of the view of Barcelona from a hill close to the Palace. The other picture is of my new adventurous self trying paella with a fellow Sternie (I tried...but couldn't bring myself to like it). Have a great second half of the semester everyone!

Ciao

Hi ladies!

I am studying abroad in Florence for the semester and it has been absolutely amazing! Within a month, I have been to five different cities: Florence, Lucca, Milan, Venice, and Rome. Adjusting to life abroad was super easy, but this past week I found myself missing Stern ever so slightly (all of you in the states may think that I'm crazy). I've definitely seen a lot, and I hope that you enjoy the pictures!

Budapest

This past weekend Kathleen, Alyssa, and I traveled to Budapest.
Fun fact: Buda and Pest are actually separate cities, separated by the Danube River (Who knew!)

Both Buda and Pest were beautiful and we were able to go on a guided tour of the city, visit the Terror Museum which explained life under the Nazi and Soviet Occupation, and visit the Hungarian Baths (large, community hot tubs ... SO relaxing).

Definitely a great weekend, enjoy the pictures!

XOXO,
Sandhya

Paris!

Best view: top of Mont Marte
Best baguette: Eric Kayser! Sarkozy gets his morning baguette from the same shop!
Paris is the only city whose subway system rivals New York. It is impossible to go anywhere without transferring at least 3 times!

Greetings from Prague!

Hello All!

Kathleen and I are having a phenomenal time in Prague so far!  We have visited the castle, famous Charles Bridge, and have been thoroughly enjoying Czech cuisine!

Please find pictures above!  In the first pic we were at a concert NYU planned for us.  The next two are the NYU in Prague main building and the famous astronomical clock in the main square!

XOXO
